In all of our elementary schools, students learn about the Six Pillars of Character (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship). A new pillar is introduced every six weeks in a variety of ways including assemblies, activities, fundraisers, projects etc. Annually, students from both our Youth and Adult sectors are nominated, selected and recognized as “Outstanding Citizens” based on their contributions to their schools and communities. Last year’s event honoured 47 students representing all schools and centres in our Board.
Since 2011, the New Frontiers School Board has partnered with “Free The Children”, an international charity and educational partner, working both domestically and internationally to empower and enable youth to be agents of change. Free The Children has partnered in our citizenship work, helping to create awareness and empower our students to think beyond themselves through various campaigns and fundraising efforts.
