High School Requirements
Move to the Next Grade or Graduate
At the end of each school year, decisions about student placement and promotion are based on specific criteria. Below are the 2025-2026 requirements.
Secondary 1 (Grade 7)
Students must pass:
- English, French, and Mathematics (core subjects)
- At least 50% of their remaining subjects
Secondary 2 (Grade 8)
Students must pass:
- English, French, and Mathematics (core subjects)
- At least 50% of their remaining subjects
Secondary 3 (Grade 9)
Students must:
- Receive a minimum final grade of 60% to move to the next level of a course.
- Pass more than 50% of their courses. Students who fail more than 50% of their courses may be required to repeat the year, in accordance with subject promotion déboulement regulations.
Secondary 4 (Grade 10)
Students must:
- Receive a minimum final grade of 60% to move to the next level of a course.
- Pass more than 50% of their courses. Students who fail more than 50% of their courses may be required to repeat the year, in accordance with subject promotion déboulement regulations.
- Have earned a minimum of 22 Secondary 4 / Grade 10 Ministry of Education credits, as shown on their Ministry transcript.
Secondary 5 (Grade 11) Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must:
- Have earned a minimum of 54 credits, including at least 20 credits at the Secondary 5 (Grade 11) level.
- Pass the following Secondary 4 (Grade 10) courses:
- Mathematics (4 or 6 credits)
- History of Quebec and Canada (4 credits)
- Science and Technology (4 credits)
- Arts Education (2 credits)
- Pass the following Secondary 5 (Grade 11) courses:
- English (6 credits)
- French (4 or 6 credits)
- CCQ or Physical Education (2 credits)
