Fees and Payments

School boards across Quebec use the same system for school fees and payments.

We know there can be a lot to keep track of, especially when you have more than one child, more than one type of fee, and different reference numbers. All the info you need is below.

The following info is for our ELEMENTARY schools. The process can be slightly different for our high schools. Info will be available on their websites soon!

Tips

Changed schools? Your reference numbers change too. If you have NFSB saved as a payee in your online banking, remember to update the reference number when your child changes schools.

Have more than one child? Each child may have different reference numbers. Make sure you are using the number for the correct child and statement.

Shared custody? Daycare and supervision fees can be split between parents. Contact your school to provide the necessary information. School fees are invoiced to the student, so parents are responsible for determining their respective portions.

Questions?

Not sure what a charge is for? Can’t find your statement? Not sure which reference number to use?

Contact your child’s school before making the payment. We’re happy to help make sure your payment gets to the right place.

What Fees Should I Expect?

Depending on the services your family uses, you may receive several different statements throughout the school year.

School Fees

  • School fees are generally billed once a year and may include workbooks, materials, services and activities.
  • Your statement will show the charges and the amount owing.
  • Reference number begins with SF.

Supervision Fees

  • Supervision fees cover the supervision of students who remain at school during lunch. Supervision fees can also be paid for the full year. You will continue to receive monthly statements, but they will show a $0 balance once the annual amount has been paid.
  • Reference number begins with DC (It will show “DC” as noon-hour supervision fees are billed through our daycare system)

Daycare

  • If your child uses daycare or stays at school during the lunch period, you will receive monthly statements.
  • Daycare fees cover the daycare services your family uses.
  • Reference number begins with DC.

Field Trips, Uniforms & Other Fees

  • You may also be asked to pay for field trips, uniforms or other school-specific items throughout the year.
  • How these payments are collected varies by school. They may appear with your school fees or be collected directly by the school.

Your school will let you know how and when to pay.

School Taxes

  • If you own taxable property, you may also receive an annual school tax bill from New Frontiers School Board.
  • School taxes are separate from your child’s school, daycare and supervision fees. Your school tax bill is sent directly by NFSB and includes its own payment information.
  • School tax reference numbers do not begin with letters.

Where Do I Find My Statements?

  • Your child’s school, daycare and supervision statements can be accessed through Clic école or the Parent Portal.
  • Open the statement you want to pay. You’ll find the amount owing and Reference Number you need to make your payment.

How Do I Pay?

School-related fees can be paid through your financial institution’s online or telephone banking service.

  1. Open the statement you want to pay in Clic école or the Parent Portal.
  2. Find the Reference Number shown on the statement.
  3. Log in to your bank and select the appropriate New Frontiers School Board payee.
  4. Enter the reference number from the statement.
  5. Enter the amount you are paying.
  6. Double-check your information and complete the payment.

Different Fees = Different Reference Numbers

  • Lots of info – but this is the important part!
    • SF = School Fees
    • DC = Daycare / Supervision Fees
    • No letters = School Taxes
  • Each account has its own reference number.
  • Always use the reference number shown on the current statement you are paying.
  • Changing schools? Your reference number changes too, including when your child moves from elementary to high school.

Keep Your Payment Out of the Mystery Money Vat!

  • Right payment + wrong reference number = payment in the wrong place and delays.
  • Take a few seconds to double-check the reference number before you click Pay. It saves you time and helps us apply your payment to the right account.
